🗣 Learn how to make Block Patterns

As Gutenberg becomes more and more prevalent, it's definitely worthwhile to get in on block patterns. Being able to create and distribute block patterns is the next logical step in the WordPress creator journey. Luckily we've got a strong place to start right here! Check out the first look at the block pattern directory!

🗣 There's a new WP Tavern Podcast

The largest and most popular source of WordPress news is starting a podcast! I have not been silent about how much I feel this is a missed opportunity to display how diverse our community is. If you're interested in my thoughts on WordPress podcasts and diversity, read more here.

🗣 No more support for IE11

Finally! The ugly red-headed stepchild of the browser world is being filtered out. After a ton of discussion, it was finally agreed to drop support for this version. Will this affect you? How do you feel about WordPress not supporting some browser versions?

📆 WordCamp Santa Clarita

One of the first major WordCamps of the year has been announced! The team in Santa Clarita is bound to put together another amazing virtual event this year. Subscribe for updates now!

💌 A Challenge

So this is the part of the newsletter where I provide a mindset challenge for you to focus on until my next issue. This is something I am currently working on myself.

I challenge you to think more about your self-love language. I've had some really helpful conversations recently with friends about love languages. It may sound a little corny, but think that identifying and sharing this trait with people in your life can help anticipate needs and prevent conflict.

Recently, I saw a post about self-love languages. Which makes so much sense, since the first person you need to love and take care of every day is yourself.

If your love language is quality time, give yourself movie nights, sunshine, and hobbies. If it's words of affirmation, give yourself compliments, gratitude, and mindfulness. If it's physical touch, give yourself bubble baths, blankets, and exercise. For acts of service, organize, meal prep, and do self care. And if you're into receiving gifts, take a trip, treat yourself, or invest in yourself.

So your challenge this time around is to make an effort every day to honor your self-love language.

So that's your challenge! I'm glad you asked!
xoxo Allie
